Jenkins Fears Star Players Could Leave

Huw Jenkins says it's difficult to say whether or not we'll keep all of our star players for next season.

Following Roberto Martinez's departure to Wigan Athletic, there are question marks over the futures of some of our most wanted players.

The likes of Angel Rangel, Jason Scotland and Ferrie Bodde in particular are being tracked by Premiership clubs and Martinez may want to sign some of them at his new club.

It's looking highly unlikely that loanee Jordi Gomez will stay with us as we can't compete financially with top flight clubs who are interested in signing him from Espanyol.

The Swansea City chairman wants to bring in a new manager as soon as possible so he can fully prepare his squad for the new campaign. There's players who are out of contract to be sorted, and we might without a single goalkeeper if De Vries does decide to leave.

Jenkins says he cannot guarantee that our best players will still be here for the new season, he told BBC Sport:

'It's going to be difficult to say, I cannot hide from that,'

'The way football has gone over the last few years, I think money talks.'

'For me personally, football is not moving in the right direction,' said Jenkins.

Money seems to be making a lot of decisions for people so we've got a big task on our hands to keep everything together, but I always felt it was going to be like that.

>I'm not sure how things will develop. It's very, very difficult to say.

'I think we've obviously got to do one thing at a time, get the [new] manager in, assess the situation and when the players come back we will speak to them and start the process to make sure everybody is comfortable.'


There has been speculation and rumours recently that Martinez wants to sign Angel Rangel and Ashley Williams, but at the moment that's all it is - rumours.

they sign a crontract to play for the club and that is what they should do, only negotiate if he's entering the final year, we start selling now and we're doomed, because if the bookies are correct and we are stuck with GJ, then we'll need all the players we have at the moment, can't see him having any pull in attracting good players
