Bodde: I Won't Be Next To Leave

Ferrie Bodde believes he'll be starting the season with Swansea City

The Dutch midfielder, who missed most of last season due to injury, says he won't be following Martinez through the club's exit door but he can't help the speculation as the media link players such as Rangel and Scotland with moves away.

"Well thats good to know, but can we trust his word?"
The Dutch midfielder has given the club a boost by telling Wales Online that he doesn't mind staying here and working under a new boss.

"Roberto leaving doesn`t guarantee I will be following him,"

"People will obviously speculate that but there`s nothing I can do about it.

"This is the gaffer`s move, not mine. I know people will conclude that I am going too but I am my own man.

"It`s the same with Angel, Jason and any of the other players. We will make our own decisions and decide our own futures.

"I still believe I will start the season with Swansea and I`m looking forward to it. I have three years on my contract so that`s the way it should be.

"If Roberto goes I will be happy to work with whoever the new manager is. I just hope for the same success with him as I had with the gaffer.

"Right now all I care about is getting fit and back into the Swans team. I still want to play in the Premiership but am happy to wait and see when it happens."

Bodde also commented on last summer's possible move to Derby, and why he decided in the end to stay with the Swans.

"I stayed for my own reasons and because I realised Swansea was the best place for my development. Moving to Derby would have been a stupid step for me and, while Roberto advised me, I saw that for myself. It was not what I wanted.

"I realised that, if I was going to play in the Championship, Swansea was the only place I wanted to do it.

"Everyone knows I want to be in the Premiership and that hasn`t changed. Last summer I genuinely believed staying with the Swans was the best way for me to achieve that goal."
