Wigan & Swansea Miles Apart On Martinez Fee

Huw Jenkins says Swansea and Wigan are 'miles apart' after having discussions on what Roberto Martinez's compensation fee would be.

The Swansea boss has another 4 years remaining on his contract at the Liberty Stadium and in his attempts to keep him at the club, it's believed Jenkins has slapped a 2m compensation on the 35 year-old.

The Latics have been left stunned by the fee despite the fact that they look set to receive 3m as Bruce is set to take over at Sunderland.

As a result, Wigan are looking for other candidates to add to their shortlist but they haven't ruled out a move for Martinez.

Huw Jenkins said:

'Wigan asked for permission to speak to Roberto. They asked what compensation we would be looking for and we talked about different figures,'

'I told them what I valued Roberto at and they told me what they thought - we were miles apart to say the least.

'I have not given them permission to talk to Roberto.'

HJ needs to think long and hard about letting RM go, because unless he get a top replacement in, i fear season ticket sales will suffer, and if we are not performing we will be back to crowds of less than 10k
