Swansea City Complete Dyer Signing

Swansea City have completed the signing of Southampton winger Nathan Dyer, who has signed a 3-year deal with the club.

by keith margam
"Strange one that, I thought he would only sign because of Martinez."
The Saints will receive £200,000 from the Swans plus a further £200,000 to be paid at a later date. The transfer also includes a sell-on clause plus bonuses based on appearances etc.

The 21 year-old watched the Swans in action at the Liberty Stadium in December 2008 whilst on loan at Sheffield United. He was instantly impressed and showed his delight when he joined us on loan in January.

The right winger made a superb home debut in the 2-0 win against Reading and the following game he scored against his club's rivals - Portsmouth as we knocked them out of the FA Cup.

Dyer told the Official site that he is delighted to complete the move and can't wait to get going again:

'I'm really happy that it's all signed and down on paper and I can't wait to get going in pre-season,''

'From the moment I first moved here I felt that it would have been the right move for me in order to progress with my career and develop as a player, especially with the way Swansea play football.

'I remember watching from the stands at the Liberty in December when I was on loan at Sheffield United; the way they played and moved the ball around was unreal and I'm just happy that I've been given a chance to be a part of that. That's how I like to play.'

'I started at Southampton when I was about seven and came right through the youth system,'

'I was lucky to get my break in the first-team when I was just 17 under Harry Redknapp who was manager at the time.

'I enjoyed my time at Southampton and have many fond memories of the club.'

Didn't he say he would only sign if RM stayed?
barrydoom
don't think he ever said that, but why are we signing players other managers may not want in their squad, surely all transfers would be on hold for the time being if he was going
cyjax
yea he did say that he wanted to sign for us but only if he was playing under RM
