Jenkins: Martinez Is Going Nowhere

Chairman Huw Jenkins has responded to reports linking Martinez with the manager's job at Wigan Athletic.

Sunderland were initially looking to bring in Steve Bruce as their new manager but Sky Sports News have since reported that the Black Cats are no longer interested after the news was leaked to the press.

With Bruce expected to leave the JJB Stadium, the press linked Roberto Martinez with a return to his former club. Wales Online also report today that the Glasgow Evening Times and The Scottish Sun are saying that Celtic are interested in the Spaniard, following Gordon Strachan's recent departure.

However, Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins is not concerned that Martinez is being linked with other jobs and is confident he'll be here for the long term, he told Wales Online:

"I am not surprised Roberto`s name has been mentioned - but I am not concerned,"

"We`ve been through the Wigan thing before - he was there for a while as a player and has a good rapport with the chairman.

"So it`s natural any time anybody goes from Wigan Roberto`s name will be mentioned.

"But at the moment we`ve got a job to do here and I believe he his fully committed to the next few years to see where he can take us.

"Although Wigan are a Premier League club, I believe that, over the next few years, ourselves as a club will hopefully equal where Wigan are and eventually we could have far more to offer Roberto."

we shud just take it as a compliment to roberto and the club and move on, because he,s been a target before but you can see how commited he is to the swans, shud start worrying when the swans reach their peak.
