Swansea City midfielder Ferrie Bodde says he's working hard throughout the Summer to be fit for next season's opening game.
The Dutchman has been out of action since November when he suffered a ruptured cruciate ligament in his knee during the home match against Birmingham City.
The 27 year-old is in a race against time to return for the first game of the new season, and he told the Evening Post:
'The knee is getting better all the time,'
'But the hard work isn't over for me. I've got a month to keep working to get my fitness back and be ready for the start of pre-season.
'I'm looking forward to it already. Everyone else has gone off to the beach, but I've got the next few weeks to get myself ready for pre-season and I hope by that time I can be up to the same level as the rest of the lads.
'That's the plan, but we'll only find out when I get there.
'Richie Evans (Swans physio) think I will be back and so do I - I think I will definitely be back when the season starts.'
Since joining the club in 2007 for a small 5-figure fee, Bodde has proved to be one of our best signings in recent years.
His impressive and dominant performances in midfield meant he was the subject a possible move to Derby last year, but after on-going talks, he decided to stay at the Liberty Stadium.
The fact that he's been out of action for the past 7 months means he hasn't caught the eye of any other interested clubs, but there are a few who are monitoring his fitness, but it's unlikely he'll be going anywhere this year.
Ferrie Bodde also told the Western Mail that he hopes to see Jordi Gomez stay with the Swans next season:
"I can`t wait to get back playing again and I don`t mind who I play with.
"But I would really like to play with Jordi again. I think he was still learning the British game when we were playing together, but he is a fantastic player.
"But we will have to see. He likes it here but there are three parties involved and there is maybe nothing he can do."
