Swansea Interested In Defender Jones

The Sun, not exactly well known for being a reliable source for possible future transfers, reports that Swansea City are interested in signing defender Rob Jones.

Bristol City are also interested in the Hibernian centre back while Nottingham Forest and Colchester have had bids rejected for the 29 year-old earlier in the year.

Jones began his professional career with Stockport County before joining Grimsby in July 2004 following a successful trial.

He then moved to his current club Hibernian 3 years ago and later became captain of the Scottish Premier League side.

Jones is a tall 6ft 7inch defender and is obviously very useful in the air both defensively and in attack for set pieces.

In 2007, he was reported to being angry at Hibs for rejecting a bid from Leeds United. In January, Colchester's bid worth up to £500,000 including add-ons was also rejected.

Forest improved on Colchester's bid slightly, offering £600,000, but this was also turned down.

With Dennis Lawrence leaving the club, Martinez is looking to replace the tall 35 year-old and Rob Jones seems to fit the bill with his towering presence at the back.

I think he could be too expensive for us, I can't see us beating the 600,000 forest bidded in Jan.
