Swansea Target Scunthorpe Keeper Murphy
Wales Online are reporting that Roberto Martinez could be targeting Scunthorpe goalkeeper Joe Murphy after watching him in action recently in their play-off semi final match against MK Dons.
The first leg of their tie, played last Friday, ended in a 1-1 draw. Murphy conceded a 27th minute goal as the Dons cancelled out an early opener from Woolford.
He was replaced on the 88th minute though as he suffered a groin injury.
Swansea City face competition for his signature though as fellow Championship club Coventry City are keen to secure his services this Summer.
The highly-rated shot stopper is out of contract in June and can join a new club on a free transfer.
The 27 year-old is the Iron's first choice goalkeeper, and this season he has had 5 bookings and 1 sending off.
His player profile on Scunthorpe's official site reads:
A near ever-present, goalkeeper Joe Murphy will go down in history as one of the club's greatest 'stoppers. The Republic of Ireland international played a pivotal part in the club's 2006-07 League One-winning campaign, keeping 24 clean sheets.
Martinez is on the lookout for goalkeepers as Dorus De Vries is yet to sign a new 2-year contract. The Swans set a 7-day deadline after offering him a new deal to sign which has now passed. His agent says De Vries could still sign a contract and stay, but it's look increasingly unlikely that will happen.
Birmingham's Colin Doyle has also been mentioned as a possible target, who could sign on a season-long loan.
