Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins hails current boss Roberto Martinez as the best manager the club has ever had.
The Spaniard is without doubt the best manager we've seen since John Toshack, who delivered top-flight to the club in the early 80's, but Jenkins believes Martinez will emulate those achievements.
If he does, and I don't think many people would bet against it happening in a few years, it would be a remarkable achievement, considering our strict and rather limited transfer and wages budget.
Jenkins told the Evening Post:
'We have got the best manager this club has ever had,'
'Our great strength is the structure we have and the management team we have — Roberto, Graeme (Jones) and Kevin (Reeves).
'Everybody here knows we have to work differently from other clubs and that is a strength we have.
'Everybody at Swansea is working for the same cause - they know what we are doing and why we are doing it.
'We haven't got a choice but to work the way we do financially, but we all believe it's the right way to work anyway and that's important.
'The fact that we haven't got the money some clubs have got is not going to stop us moving forward.'
'We have to make sure that he (Roberto) is here for a long time to come.
'He has got our full backing, but he needs to see the support growing year on year.
'He needs to see the club developing every season.'
Martinez has been linked with 2 or 3 moves to Premiership clubs since he joined the Swans as manager 2 years ago, but the Spaniard remains loyal to the Swans and sets his sights on delivering top flight football again. By default, he's been mentioned as a possible replacement for Steve Coppell at Reading, but I'm pretty convinced he'll be here for a few more years yet.![]()
