De Vries's Agent: Dorus Could Still Stay

Dorus De Vries's agent says it's still a possibility that the goalkeeper could sign a new contract at Swansea City.

It was initially thought that the Dutchman would be moving on next month when his contract expires as the Swans gave him a 7-day deadline to sign a new deal which has now passed.

However, his agent believes that there's still a chance De Vries will stay, and tells Wales Online that his client needs more thinking time:

"Swansea made him an offer and there has been a final offer and Dorus is thinking about it," Arnold Ooserveer told the Western Mail.

"Swansea want to have an answer as quickly as possible, but at the moment Dorus needs more time.

"He hasn`t given an answer yet but the situation is that he needs more time.

"If it`s finished for Swansea because there`s already been too much time, I don`t know.

"But I think there is still time for an answer."

"They made an offer but it took seven months to come.

"He was happy to stay with Swansea but it could have been finished a long time ago and I think Dorus was disappointed about the whole situation.

"Now he has to think about it. It`s up to him now but he wants to be 100 per cent on saying yes and he wants more time to do that, that`s all."

You have to wonder why De Vries wouldn't sign a new deal with the Swans - a club he can see are on the up and have the potential to reach the Premiership within a few years.

Swansea City are already looking to line up a replacement if he does leave as reports suggest Martinez is interested in signing Birmingham's Colin Doyle on a season-long loan.

whats there to think about? whether or not i want the chance to go up to the prem with the swans in a few years? get rid.
GThomas
Get rid now, obviously he thinks he's better than the club and is hoping for a better offer
cyjax
i would'nt want him to stay its his fault and his agents not the club
mumblesjack98
i hope he goes now, he's showing no loyalty, he's at a good club and first choice keeper and he's stalling over a new deal. and we can do better.
GThomas
I am sure that Martinez will find a good replacement, and someone who wants to play for Swansea City. Reminds me of the Robinson saga of last summer.
