Jenkins: 'Gomez Would Love To Stay Here'

Chairman Huw Jenkins believes that on-loan Espanyol midfielder Jordi Gomez would love to stay with the Swans.

"I would sacrifice spending on other targets e.g. Dyer, in order to get our man."
The two clubs are in constant contact regarding the 23 year-old and Swansea City have shown a keen desire to sign the player who won the Supporters' Player of the year award.

However, the Swans still aren't clear as to whether or not Espanyol are willing to sell Gomez. It could well depend on if they stay in La Liga, which is looking ever more likely now.

Huw Jenkins told the Evening Post they will do everything they can to sign him on a permanent deal. If they do, the Swans are likely to treble their record fee paid.

Roberto is continually speaking to Espanyol to see where the land lies,'

'Right now their season is not over so things are still not clear, but their chances of staying up look a lot better than they were a few weeks ago.

'We believe Jordi would love to stay at Swansea and, if the opportunity comes to buy him then we will do everything we possibly can.

'It's fair to say we would have to pay a lot of money to get him. If it does happen it will be quite a sizeable thing for our club to do.'
