Martinez & Co Start Their Scouting Mission

Martinez & Co Start Their Scouting Mission

Roberto Martinez, assistant Graeme Jones and chief scout Kevin Reeves have began their busy scouting travels as they set to visit Scotland, Holland and Spain this week.

Their scouting mission began on Friday, as they watched Scunthorpe vs MK Dons in the League One Play-Off semi-finals.

The following day they watched the Old Firm Derby as Rangers replace Celtic at the top of the SPL with a 1-0 victory.

On Sunday they jetted off to Holland where they each watched a game before rejoining in Amsterdam for the flight home the same day.

Today, the scouting continues as they visit St James Park for a massive game at the bottom of the Premiership, and at least one of the teams is likely to join us next season in the Championship.

On Tuesday, they'll travel up North to Scotland before jetting off to Martinez's native Spain on Thursday.

On Friday, they'll be involved in a football-related meeting in London before returning to Spain for 3 more games over the weekend.

Martinez told the Official Site:

'The holiday starts here,''

'It's a hectic schedule, but I am a big believer in doing the preparation work for next season early.

'There is still plenty of football being played around Europe, so it's a great opportunity to take in a few games and watch some of the players we have been keeping an eye on.''
