Swansea In Talks To Keep Scotland

Wales on Sunday believe that Swansea City are set to have new contract talks with top scorer Jason Scotland to keep him at the club.

Premiership clubs Fulham and Middlesbrough are the latest to be linked with a move for the striker along with a number of other interested parties.

Scotland's current deal ends next year in June 2010 but Swansea bosses are keen to extend that contract to secure his future with the Swans.

The Trinidad and Tobago international recently said that he would like to play in the Premiership next season, but he also said he'd be happy to stay if the deal was right.

His agent, Mike Berry has urged Swansea City recently to offer the player an improved contract if they wish to keep him.

However, Swansea City have a wage structure in place that they don't wish to break, and offering Scotland a longer and better deal could do that.
