Motherwell Missed Out On Signing Dobbie

Motherwell Missed Out On Signing Dobbie

Motherwell boss Mark McGhee revealed that they missed out on signing Stephen Dobbie as they couldn't offer the same wages as the Swans did.

Roberto Martinez has moved quickly to sign his target on a free from Scottish First Division side Queen of the South.

The Spaniard was able to beat off competition from a number of Championship and SPL clubs who were also keen to sign Dobbie, who has scored 24 goals this season.

McGhee told BBC Sport:

'We tried to sign Stephen Dobbie, but he went to Swansea for money we couldn't afford,'

'I tried to sign two players yesterday, I'm speaking to another player today and we've got another coming on trial next week,'

Stephen Dobbie has agreed to join Swansea City once his current contract ends at Queen of the South next month. It's been reported that he will sign a 3-year deal worth £6,000 a week.

It's a good thing that 9 other clubs were interested in him, he must have something if all those clubs were targeting him.
