Vital Swansea Player of the Year - Leon Britton

Congratulations to midfielder Leon Britton who wins Vital Swansea's player of the year vote!

The former West Ham United player, who has just finished his 6th season at Swansea City, was the clear winner of our fans' vote with 36%, ahead of Jordi Gomez, who won the Official award of Supporters' Player of the Year.

In 3rd place, Jason Scotland received 13% of the votes after scoring a further 24 goals this season, proving that he can still average a goal every 2 games in the Championship.

Full Results:

1st - Britton 36%
2nd - Gomez 24%
3rd - Scotland 13%
4th - Monk 10%
5th - Tate 8%
6th - Rangel 4%
7th - Allen 3%
8th - Pratley 2%.

Ever since he first joined from the Hammers in 2002, Britton has been a first class professional, 100% effort in every game as well as excellent determination and loyalty.

Starting as a pacey skillful midfielder, to a right winger and back in the centre midfield under Roberto Martinez where his role has somewhat changed to a ball-winning playmaker.

Despite his size, he's an excellent battler and ball-winner in midfield.

Britton has started more than 250 games for the Swans and has scored 11 goals.

Fans' Views

Leon for me, he turns in an exceptional performance week in week out.

In our new poll, we'd like to know what area of the squad needs the most strengthening in preparation for next season. What area of the team are we most weakest in? Do we need to improve our defence or is the problem more up front?
