Lawrence Released, Who's Next?

Dennis Lawrence is the first out-of-contract player to be released by Swansea City.

The veteran centre back spent this season on loan at Crewe Alexandra, where he made 29 starts and scored 2 goals.

He was a first team regular last year in League One but he hasn't been in Martinez's team plans for this season in the Championship.

Following his departure, he may well join Crewe, who are now relegated to League Two, permanently.

Yesterday we posted a feature on the site, which you can read here which looked at the 7 out-of-contract players and whether or not they'd be offered new deals.

We believe Owain Tudur-Jones and Kristian O'Leary will be the other 2 players to be released. Matty Collins is believed to have been offered a new 2-year deal, while talks are still on-going with Dorus De Vries, Andrea Orlandi and Fede Bessone.

We need a replacement for CB. Sol Campbell? (Portsmouth) is looking for a change of scenery.

Owain Tudur Jones to be released? I thought he was highly rated with you guys but struggled with injuries?

He's nowhere near getting into the first team and has spent some time on loan at Swindon, I think he'll be moving on next month.

Glad he's gone, didn't know how he managed to play all those games last season, he was poor. OTJ won't get a game so get rid, same goes for O'Leary.

we should have sold him a year ago, rather than loan him out.

No one would have signed OTJ last summer as he had a long term injury. Had to first prove his fitness. Asked in January to go out on loan, but this was refused until in the end Martinez decided he did not figure in his plans - and then went to Swindon.
willow
ok fair enough, but i think we should sell him now as he's nowhere near championship quality.
