Performance Disappoints Martinez

Roberto Martinez was left disappointed with his side's performance in the 1-0 defeat yesterday at Sheffield United.

A win would have set up an exciting final game next Sunday, as a win at home to Blackpool would have seen un finish in the top 6 if Burnley or Cardiff lost.

Garry Monk conceded a penalty towards the end of the first half and Cotterill sent De Vries the wrong way to convert the spot-kick. That was enough to keep the Blades' automatic-promotion hopes alive, as Birmingham lost 2-1 against Preston.

Martinez told Wales Online:

"It was a really open game, two teams wanted to win and that`s always a great ingredient,"

"We are disappointed because our performance wasn`t as good as it can be.

"Our tempo was very slow and that affected our game - but it was a very level game until the penalty decision.

"I thought at first he was going to book him (Quinn) and he was very clever to win the penalty.

"He slowed down and waited for Garry Monk to get into position and throws himself to the ground.

"I don`t think that would have been a penalty in the other box. But we didn`t lose because of the penalty.

"Our performance wasn`t just good enough for this stage of the season."
