Martinez Wants Swans To Bid £1.5m For Gomez?

The News of the World today report that Martinez has recommended the club offer £1.5m to sign Jordi Gomez permanently.

According to the News of the World, an 'insider' told them:

'Roberto spoke to the board last week and he recommended a £1.5m offer for Jordi.

'It's a lot of money but that's what they've got to pay if they are to have any chance of keeping him. This is the level we are at now.

'The club will offer an initial £750,000 with the rest payable later on.'

Roberto Martinez has shown how keen he is to keep the Spaniard who has proved to be an excellent loan signing this year.

The youngster is a contender for player of the season and has helped the Swans to an excellent first year in the Championship.

Swansea City are not known for their big spending but it seems the club realise they will need to pay a 7-figure fee if they want to keep the midfielder.

We also face competition from a number of Premiership clubs who also considering making a bid for the 23 year-old.

Saw the highlights from the United game today and he gave the ball away too easily. On that performance Not 1.5M. Shooting at goal in open play in recent games has been way off target.

No player is able to give 101% performance week in, week out. You have to rate him in the perspective of the entire season and from that angle I see a seven-figure price tag as justified.
