'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Monk Wary Of Possible Summer Departures

Swansea City skipper Garry Monk says he's not looking forward to the Summer as he's afraid that some of our best players could be attracted to joining Premiership clubs.

Martinez's side look set to miss out on the play-offs this season as both Burnley and Reading, our main play-off rivals, won this week, extending their gap in the top 6.

Speculation has began already linking the likes of Angel Rangel, Jason Scotland and Jordi Gomez with moves to clubs like Manchester City, Middlesborough and Newcastle United.

Monk said to the Evening Post:

'I am not looking forward to the summer,'

'I know I am going to be switching on the TV and seeing stories or hearing rumours about the lads moving on and it's going to be difficult if big clubs come in.

'If the chance comes to play Premier League football, and to earn five times as much as you are on now, it can be difficult to turn down.'

The Swans will be looking to go one better next season and will at least be aiming for a play-off place following our successes this year. It'll be hard to do that though if we're missing our best and most influential players.

i see where he's coming from, it'll be gutting if we lose the likes of scotland and gomez but i'm hoping bodde doesn't get linked to moves. teams like are boro and newcastle will probably go down so will our players be bothered about joining them?

Orlandi has said that he is playing for a new contract. Who else in the squad is looking for a new contract?
