Swansea City Sign Young Star Kurtis March

Swansea City have signed 15 year-old Kurtis March from rivals Cardiff City.

The Swansea-born player has spent five years at Ninian Park but he turned down the chance to continue his career with the Bluebirds, opting instead to join his home town club.

Swansea City are likely required to pay Cardiff a compensation fee, and if the two clubs can't agree the sum, it will be decided by a Football League tribunal.

Swansea's Head of Youth, Tony Pennock told the Official Site:

'Obviously we are all delighted to capture such an exciting prospect as Kurtis,''

'Once we knew Kurtis had turned down Cardiff's offer of a scholarship, we moved straight in. Although there was interest from a number of other clubs, I'm pleased to say that we were always his first choice.''

'It's the first time we have paid compensation to another club for someone so young,''

'But it shows how far we have progressed as a Youth set-up and as a club.

'With the Chairman and the Board's backing we are determined to not only attract the best local talent, but to persuade them from going elsewhere which has happened in the past. This signing proves that other so called bigger clubs are no longer the attraction they once were.''

It is believed that Kurtis also turned down offers from Premiership and Championship clubs to sign on at the Liberty.
