Martinez Disappointed With Coin Throwing

Roberto Martinez was disappointed after Sunday's 2-2 draw against Cardiff City for a number of reasons - one of them being the coins that were being thrown onto the pitch.

The main incident, saw referee Mike Dean suffer a bleeding cut on his forehead as a result of one coin thrower, who has been arrested and will receive a lifelong ban if found guilty.

Martinez was also disappointed to not win the game, and believed Dean's late penalty decision was wrong.

Both managers were hoping the match would boost the image of Welsh football, as well as the two clubs, and that the media and everyone else would be talking about the match, rather than any incidents that occurred. Unfortunately Dave Jones and Roberto Martinez were let down by a small minority of 'fans' as the police and FAW now investigate the coin throwing incident that happened near the end of the first half.

Martinez told the Evening Post:

'The incident with the referee wasn't the only one,'

'People have talked about one coin being thrown, but there were many, many others thrown onto the pitch and that's a shame.

'It's disappointing because you look at the British media and they are all talking first about the coin incident. They have forgotten about the good things in the Welsh derby, the quality of the game, and that's bad for both clubs and for Welsh football.'
