Monk: 'Pressure Is All On Cardiff'

Swansea City skipper Garry Monk says the pressure is all on the home side Cardiff City ahead of Sunday's derby game at Ninian Park.

The centre back said that the Swans have nothing to lose as they go in search of a play-off place, while Cardiff City have bigger expectations to finish in the top 6 this year.

Monk told the Wales Online:

"The pressure is definitely all on Cardiff,"

"They are at home and there is nothing worse than losing a derby game on your own patch.

"It was the same for us at the Liberty and you feel the pressure a lot more. As much as it`s good to have the fans right behind you, the added pressure means you know you can`t afford to lose - especially with such huge bragging rights on offer.

"They certainly won`t want to be the team that lost the last derby at Ninian Park either. It`s all added pressure which is good for us."

"We have nothing to lose now. We are not expected to get in the play-offs, people think it will be too difficult, so there`s no pressure on us.

"Cardiff, on the other hand, have to stay in the top six and cement their play-off place. So the pressure has to be on them.

"People expect them to be in the play-offs now. And that is quite a burden to carry."

Swansea City have yet to lose the all-welsh derby this season, we drew 2-2 at the Liberty Stadium in the League and won 1-0 at home in the Carling Cup. The much tougher test is to come on Sunday morning however.
