Jenkins: We'll Do Our Best To Sign Gomez

Jenkins: We'll Do Our Best To Sign Gomez

Chairman Huw Jenkins insists they'll 'pursue every angle' to sign Jordi Gomez on a permanent deal.

The Espanyol midfielder has proved to be a big hit for the Swans this season and with his excellent performances and obvious ability it could be difficult for us to sign him. The Spanish club may want to keep him as they could get relegated this season while Scottish Premier League champions Celtic are also thought to be tracking him.

Huw Jenkins says our biggest fear is that he returns to Espanyol, he told the Evening Post:

'The biggest danger, in my opinion, is that he will stay with Espanyol.''

'Roberto has talked at length with Espanyol from day one. But they have had changes of manager and are fighting against relegation.

'They may lose a lot of players if they are relegated and could look to bring young players like Jordi back.

'I don't know what Jordi might be worth or if other clubs are interested in him. He is not our player so I wouldn't expect to know.

'What I do know is that despite the financial climate, there are still clubs who are prepared to throw ridiculous sums of money around.

'But we would like to have Jordi back. He has had a fair season with us and if there was a chance of him leaving Espanyol we would pursue every angle to bring him to Swansea City.

How much do you think Jordi Gomez is worth? Are we capable of signing him in the Summer?
