Waiting Game Pays Off For Serran

Albert Serran's patience pays off as he finally gets a chance to impress in the first team.

The Spanish centre back has waited since August to get a run in the first team and he finally has a chance now to show us what he can do.

With Garry Monk nursing a back injury, Serran has come in alongside Ashley Williams to fill in the vacant spot at the back.

Serran is most likely to keep his place on Saturday when Crystal Palace visit the Liberty Stadium, he told the club:

'It did get a bit frustrating early on in the season. It was difficult at times.

'Like every footballer, I wanted to play, even though it was difficult coming to a new country, a new team and playing with new players.

'I spoke to the gaffer a few times about the fact that I wasn't playing. But he told me not to worry and just be patient.

'He told me to just keep working hard, keep learning about the British game and my chance would come before the end of the season.

'He said the British game was for me and not to worry. Thankfully he was right and my chance has come over the last few weeks.''
