'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Scotland Dedicates 50th Goal To His Mum

Jason Scotland dedicated his 50th Swansea goal to his mum back home in Trinidad & Tobago.

The striker scored from the penalty spot last night to give us a vital 1-0 win against Plymouth Argyle at the Liberty Stadium.

It was his 21st goal of the season and he now aims to get the Golden Boot again in a second successive season.

Jason Scotland said:

'She (Brenda) has been a big part of my football and my life,''

'She keeps tabs on me and I told her I was going to put on the T-shirt '50 for you mum', but she thought I was bluffing.

'I always ring her after games to tell her how we got on and if I scored. I get a row if I don't!

'She came over to watch me last season, but unfortunately she was taken ill. Hopefully she can come over again soon and see me score.''

'I suppose 50 goals in a season-and-a-bit is a remarkable achievement for anybody,'

'I have surprised myself a bit.

'Hopefully I can push on and get a couple more goals this season as well.

'I always keep tabs on the Championship charts. Hopefully I can get to that mark and reach him (Sylvain Ebanks-Blake) and get the golden boot again.

'There are nine more games to go and you never know what can happen.'

Roberto Martinez certainly picked up the bargain of the century with Jason Scotland, paying just £25,000 for his services 18 months ago, and already Scotland has fired in 50 goals for us in just 97 games - a remarkable achievement.

Scotland is currently 5 goals behind the Championship's leading goalscorer - Wolves' Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, who has 23 strikes to his name.

"Hopefully it (Plymouth win) will give the players a boost for Saturday, a win today will make a big difference for the game, we can push on from here now and go on a good run. another tough one, but we'll come through with a similar score from today in our favour."

A brilliant achievement to average 1 goal every 2 games.
