Martinez's Views On Plymouth Win

Swansea City manager Roberto Martinez shares his thoughts after tonight's 1-0 home win against Plymouth Argyle.

We ended our 3-match winless run this evening as Jason Scotland fired in his 50th goal for the club from the penalty spot to complete the double over the Pilgrims.

The 3 points sees us rise up into the play-off places, thanks to our strong goal difference as Bristol City and Preston below us also have 57 points.

We found it difficult to create clear cut chances and break down a defensive Plymouth side, but after 1 penalty appeal we rejected, we won the second as Jordi Gomez was fouled in the area.

Scotland stepped up, and slotted the ball home to give us the lead.

Roberto Martinez told BBC Sport after the game:

"We are in the top six and that is a reflection on our second-half performance.

"We have learned from past lessons and the determination and responsibility shown by the players has kept them going in a difficult match and it was a fair result.

"It was a difficult game to referee and I am delighted with the victory and the way we played.

"It was a little frustrating at times but the fans stayed with us and that will become increasingly important in the final run-in."

"Every team that comes here from now on in will be making it difficult for us. And that is why so many of the top sides are dropping points at this stage of the season."
