Martinez: 'A Win Is Not Really Essential'

Roberto Martinez says a win tonight is 'not really essential' as we look to reach the play-offs.

I'd like to disagree with him. A 4th consecutive draw would make it difficult for us to get the points we need as at the moment, we're not picking up enough points on our travels either.

The Spaniard realises though that it might not take 75 points to get 6th place, as the likes of Preston, Burnley and Bristol City are not experiencing better form than us.

Martinez told the Evening Post:

'A win is not really essential,'

'We could lose the next four and win the last six as long as we can get enough points come the end of the seasons.

'We need to maintain out level of performance. We are playing Plymouth at probably the wrong time. They have a great combination now of youth and experience.

'They are in a good moment. In their last four games they have won two and drawn two against very good sides.

'They recently beat Wolves and that speaks volumes about what Plymouth are capable of. We will need to be on top of our game.'

Well if we didn't win last night we'd be back down in 9th, possibly 10th depending on how Burnlet get off tonight.
