Martinez Aims For Minimum Of 22 Points

Swansea City boss Roberto Martinez is aiming to win a minimum of 22 more points this season, to give us the total we need to finish within the play-offs.

The Spaniard believes 72-75 points will be enough to meet our aims, and for that we'll need to average 2 points a game.

It's a tough ask with 11 games to go, which includes 6 on our travels. If we win every home game we'll still need to average a draw in our 6 away matches.

Swansea City have been boosted for the play-off run in with the returns of midfielders Darren Pratley and Joe Allen, plus striker Gorka Pintado.

We have a game in hand over our 3 rivals above us but it'll mean nothing if we don't win it.

Martinez will be hoping his side put the pressure back on Forest tomorrow as they sit just 3 points above the relegation zone, he told BBC Sport:

'I think between 72 and 75 points is definitely going to give you the play-off spot,'

'I would rather arrive there late and sneak in rather than to stay there all season and drop out in the last game.'

Incidentally, last season, 6th placed Watford finished with 70 points, but the two season's before that 6th placed teams achieved 75 points.

If the Swans can maintain the form they've set in the last 8 for the remainder of the season, they'll bag another 20 points, so we'll need to up our game slightly to meet Martinez's targets.

very tough task with our form at the moment, no loan players coming in to strengthen our squad as almost every other team has done, and three away games on the bounce with qpr sheff wed and the scum, very tough
