FA To Investigate Spitting Claims
The Football Association are to investigate Leon Britton's claims that Richie Wellens spat at him during Saturday's 3-1 home win against Doncaster.
You can read what Leon Britton said here
Wellens obviously denied the claims, his response can be read here
The incident was missed by the referee and the officials and it wasn't caught on camera so the investigation will take longer than the FA's 48-hour 'Fasttrack' procedure.
The FA will be speaking to the 2 players involved as well as other members of both teams who witnessed what happened.
Wellens was later sent off in the game for a foul on Jordi Gomez and he received his second yellow card.
If he did spit at Britton then clearly the FA have to take appropriate action and punish him accordingly as it is a disgusting act which has no place in football or anywhere else for that matter.
