Monk Out For Fulham Cup Clash

Swansea City skipper Garry Monk will be out for Tuesday night's FA Cup 5th round replay at Fulham with a back injury.

by aspaulhill
"With a good run in the team Serran will be a very good player for us."
The defender missed Saturday's game at home to Doncaster just as a precaution as he was struggling with a back strain.

Roberto Martinez says he isn't quite ready to make a return to the first team, meaning Albert Serran will keep his place alongside Ashley Williams at the back.

'He's recovered well since Friday, but isn't quite ready,''

'It's always a big blow to lose a player, especially your skipper, but we've got great strength in the squad - as we displayed against Doncaster.''

Joe Allen's fitness will be assessed before tomorrow night's game after picking up a thigh strain during Saturday's game.

I think we'll manage ok without him, but Serran needs to be better than he was on Saturday.

Pity we will be without our captain. But didn't Alan Tate do well in his place. Serran improved as the game went on against Doncaster. His heading was better than some of his passing.
