'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Guillem Bauza - A True Professional

Striker Guillem Bauza has proved to be a patient, true professional since joining the club 18 months ago.

In that time, the former Espanyol B player has made just 13 League starts for the club, including an impressive 9 goals.

This season, he's started just once, but has 2 goals to his name plus another he scored in the FA Cup.

Bauza has quite a prolific goalscoring record here which seems to go unnoticed a lot of the time, and despite hardly kicking a ball this season, he remains patient and understands Martinez's decisions, he told the Evening Post:

'As a player you want to play from the start, but just being on the pitch is good,'

'You have to show in that time that you can play and help the team.

'I think I can play in the starting XI, either alongside Jason or as the only striker. I think I can do a good job there.

'But the gaffer knows what's best. If he decides that putting me on the bench is better for the team, then I accept that.'

Bauza could get a chance tomorrow at home to Doncaster as Jordi Gomez needs a fitness test and Tudur-Jones is a doubt as he has a back problem.

Bauza also praised Gomez:

'Jordi is having a great season,'

'I knew he was a great player before he came here, but now most teams should want to have him on their side.

'When you come to a new country you need to adapt, and the best players do that. Jordi is showing his true potential.

'He has scored a lot of goals and givies us that quality we need. Jordi is very happy with his team-mates and the club.'

'Everyone in Espanyol knows about Swansea. The press in Spain is following us a lot now. We are a fashion team to them.

'The Fulham game was on Spanish television and a lot of people there would have watched us playing better than a Premier League team.'

I think he's been very patient here and also very professional. 9 goals in 13 league starts is quite impressive but it goes unnoticed when you hardly ever play. He's never really had the chance to show what he's capable of substitute appearances are never easy to try and impress.
