'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Martinez: We Won't Change Our Style Of Play

Swansea City boss Roberto Martinez says his side will continue playing the same way they have done all season, quick and attractive passing football.

We've been dubbed the best footballing team in the Championship by a number of managers but Tuesday night at Watford saw a huge drop in our standards.

Despite the 2-0 defeat, and the fact that Martinez thought his side failed to adapt to the requirements needed to win on the night, the Spaniard has vowed not to change their style of football.

He's put in a place a rather special system here and a rather unique way of playing football in the Championship.

Martinez even said he would rather lose a game playing his way than trying to 'sneak a result which is not going to allow us to grow.'

Martinez says he and his side are desperate to get back to their usual standards:

"We have high standards at this club and it is important we don`t keep that bad taste we have for too long,"

"Not even Barcelona win every game, we should be allowed to drop some points.

"But we know that we are better than we showed on Tuesday. We want to keep high standards. We are not a side who are going to sit deep and defend and try to go on the counter-attack.

"I would rather lose taking control with the principles we believe in rather than try to sneak a result which is not going to allow us to grow.

""The next game cannot come quick enough for us. But, saying that, we have a very level-headed dressing room. We are very realistic.

"Watford was a difficult place to go. They were desperate for the points and had that bit of extra spice in their play.

"But the players are ready and looking forward to the Doncaster game. We are desperate to get back to our level of performance."

Swansea City have a chance to put things right tomorrow afternoon when we host Doncaster at the Liberty Stadium.

Fans should be reminded to keep their ticket stubs as they'll get first opportunity to buy tickets if we progress in the FA Cup to play Manchester United.

theres no need to, as he says we cant win them all and all teams have off-days. our system is working wonders as martinez is getting some playing attractive AND effective football, its hard to do both.

Tuesday was just an off day for us, its important we get back to winning ways tomorrow though to avoid going into a bit of bad run of form.
