Defender Ashley Williams says results are more important than the performances now for the remaining 14 League games.
Roberto Martinez has also looked for attractive performances from his side and that the results would follow, but after losing 2-0 at Watford on Tuesday night, Ashley Williams believes our priorities need to change for the last few months of the campaign.
The Swans' boss has also always stated that he wants his side to maintain their high standards every game and to 'be ourselves', but Tuesday's performance was nowhere near the standards we have set recently.
It was a huge reflection on Saturday's home performance against Fulham in the FA Cup. We dominated the whole game and our quick passing game was at its very best, but we struggled to get going at Watford and hardly looked like scoring.
The Hornets ended our 16-match unbeaten run and hopefully it'll benefit us in the long-run as we look to get back to our usual high standards on Saturday when we host Doncaster.
After Tuesday's disappointment, Williams said:
| ''The scoreline was very disappointing, but what was worse for us was the performance,'' ''We have come a long way this season and we have raised our own expectations. We didn't live up to them at Watford. ''It doesn't matter how anyone else says we should have played, we have to reach the standards that we set individually and as a team. ''We tried and tried, but we couldn't get into the rhythm that we usually have. Going into the last part of the season we need to win as many games as we can to get into the play-off spots. Every game is huge for us now — the performance and result. ''You'd probably take the result over the performance now. Earlier in the season we wanted the performance over the result — which we did — but it's the other way around now. ''It's about putting points on the board now and climbing up the table.'' |
