Hodgson: Swansea Were A Good Test For Us

Roy Hodgson says Swansea City provided a good test for his Fulham side yesterday in their FA Cup 5th round tie.

Jason Scotland equalised early in the second half to take the game to a replay at Craven Cottage on Tuesday 24th February.

It was another excellent and impressive performance by Martinez's men and they would have gained a lot of admirers as the match was shown live on ITV.

The Swans proved again that they can cope with Premiership opposition but the main argue is, could we manage a full season in the top flight?

Roy Hodgson wasn't pleased with his side's performance, but he said that Swansea City provided them with a good test:

'I thought it was a jaded performance from us and a good performance from them.

'But I'm not angry at the performance because, although we can play better than that, Swansea are a good side and you have to give them credit. They made life difficult for us and they fully deserved their draw.

'I'm pleased because when things aren't going your way it's important you stay defensively organised and dig in to give you that chance of winning the game.

'Mark Schwarzer made some brilliant saves and I thought we could have done better in counter-attacking situations.

'But Swansea were a threat throughout and they were a very good test for us.

'It was important we dug in and I was pleased with the way we did that. Hopefully in the replay we can show Swansea a little bit more of the form we have been showing this season.'

'You can certainly see why they are in the fifth round of the FA Cup and on the verge of the play-offs because they have some good players and play very good football.'
