Pintado Set For Early Return

Gorka Pintado could return from a hernia operation by the end of the month.

The striker has struggled to reach full fitness since joining in the Summer because of his on-going injury problem.

Boss Roberto Martinez has hailed his bravery as he has trained and played through the pain barrier all season.

The former Grenada CF frontman has shown some glimpses of class this year, in particular his spectacular first goal for the club in the 3-1 home win against Nottingham Forest back in August.

Roberto Martinez says he'll be a new player for us when he returns:

'To have Gorka lasting as long as he did before the operation just shows you the attitude and determination of my players,'

'The willingness to help the team is unbelievable and I think everyone should know that Gorka deserves huge credit.

He has had to play with huge pain and train with huge pain but he did it for the team.

'It's that sort of attitude which allows clubs to be successful and that's why it's so important to have players with the right mentality.'

'We couldn't hold it off any longer and we felt this was a good time for Gorka to have the operation,'

'He will come back hopefully for Charlton and he will be like a new player for us.'
