Scotland Misses Out On Monthly Award

Despite scoring in all but 1 of his games during January, Jason Scotland missed out on winning the Championship Player of the Month award.

Swansea City's top scorer has hit fine form of late, scoring 5 goals in 5 games last month, including a brace in the 2-0 away win at Burnley to kick things off.

Scotland missed out to Cardiff City's Joe Ledley, who scored just once in the League during January.

A statement explained the decision to name Ledley player of the month:

'Ledley's performances were at the heart of a fantastic month for Cardiff City.'

'The midfielder began January by getting on the scoresheet in his side's draw at title-chasers Birmingham City.

'He followed this with impressive displays in the Bluebirds' back-to-back wins over Coventry City and Nottingham Forest, to help his side cement their play-off place.'

Chris Kamara said: 'Joe Ledley played out of his skin in January and it is little wonder that he was attracting interest from a number of Premier League clubs during the transfer window.

'It is great news for Dave Jones' side that they were able to resist all offers for Joe as he is going to be instrumental in Cardiff's attempts to win promotion this season.'

You could argue that Scotland helped the Swans even further by single-handedly winning us games which sees us just 2 points from a play-off point.

Scotland scored both goals in the 2-0 win at Burnley, put us in front against Reading (2-0) and scored 1 and assisted the other in the FA Cup 2-0 win at Portsmouth.

ridiculous, he scored 5 in 5 and was simply superb.

I really don't get this Ledley thing. The kid is good but he's not all that and flits in and out of games. The reason Cardiff have kept hold of him is that all but the also rans in the PL have scoffed at the £7m+ valuation and rightly so...

agreed dr watford, i can't see what he did to deserve it. scotland has scored in every game but 1 and has been the main reason for our awesome run of form lately.
