Swansea City have been boosted by the news that Jason Scotland will be able to play in the FA Cup fifth round tie against Fulham.
Scotland had been due to join up with the Trinidad & Tobago squad for a World Cup qualifier with El Salvador, but discussions between club, country and player mean that the in-form striker will be available against the Cottagers.
It is a massive plus for Swans boss Roberto Martinez, who is delighted that last seasons top scorer will be able to lead the attack when Roy Hodgson brings his Premiership side to the Liberty Stadium.
El Gaffer told the club's official site:
'I'm delighted. We have had to deal with Jason's situation every time he's travelled away with his country and I'm pleased that they have been able to understand our specific needs on this occasion.'
'We have a fantastic relationship with the Trinidad & Tobago federation and we will try to help them as much as we can in the future.'
'Swansea City will be supporting them next week and we hope they make it all the way to the World Cup.'
Scotland was keen to point out that this does not mean an end to his international career, but in this instance he was better off staying in South Wales.
'It's great that I have been allowed to stay for the FA Cup because it's obviously massive for us,' Scotland said.
'Thankfully there has been good communication and understanding between Swansea and Trinidad & Tobago.'
'At this stage it's a good outcome, but I have also told the manager here that I have all intention of representing my country in the future matches.'
A former Swansea City striker, Febian Brandy, has joined League One Hereford on a month's loan from Manchester United.
