Dyer: We Are The Best Team in The League

Swansea City winger Nathan Dyer has kept the compliments flowing about his current club, claiming the Swans are the best team in the Championship.

Dyer has impressed in his first two starts for the club and scored the opening goal in the FA Cup win over Portsmouth.

And Dyer believes that those tipping the South Wales club for the top will be proven right.

Speaking to the Western Mail, Dyer said:

"The way we played wouldn`t be out of place in the Premiership," he beamed. "We play football the right way and it`s a joy to work for Roberto.

"He knows how to play good football and that`s the way to go if you want to get to the Premiership.'

"Games like this just give us extra motivation to make sure we get there.'

"Since I joined Swansea, I`ve always said we were a Premiership side and we play great football.'

"I think, if we play our game, we can match anyone.'

"We`re the best team in the Championship, but I still think we can improve.'

"People are tipping us to go to the top and, hopefully, we can prove them right."

Dyer was also understandably delighted to open his account in front of the Fratton Park crowd, who gave him plenty of stick for being on the books at Southampton.

"When I scored I got a bit excited and put a finger to my mouth," he said.

"But that was just me being overjoyed with scoring the goal.'

"I wanted to silence them because they were on my back calling me names. That`s not nice for any player to deal with.'

"But the boos actually inspired me and that happens with a lot of players. If you give them stick it just spurs them on to prove you wrong.'

"That`s exactly what happened with Jermain Defoe last Sunday. I was happy to do the same.'

"I was always expecting to come in for a bit of stick here. But the way to answer it is with a good performance and a win.'

"There couldn`t really have been a much better place to score my first goal for Swansea. I was really excited and I`m just really happy about it."
