Tate Relishing Pennant Challenge
Swansea City defender Alan Tate is looking forward to the challenge of testing himself against some of the country's best players when the Swans visit Portsmouth.
The FA Cup Fourth Round tie against current cup holders Pompey this Saturday is another massive test for Tate and his team mates.
But with a 10 game unbeaten league run behind them, the Swans travel to the south coast with every chance of getting a result.
And Tate believes the opportunity to play against some top class players will be a valuable experience, in particular his potential encountet with Jermaine Pennant.
Speaking to the Evening Post, Tate said:
'You want to test yourself against the best players and Jermaine Pennant has been linked with Real Madrid and AC Milan, so that tells you he's pretty handy.'
'But that's the kind of challenge you want as a player and I'm desperate to be involved this weekend. I'm sure all the lads are.'
'They have lost (Jermain) Defoe and (Lassana) Diarra this month, but they still look a really good team,' reckons Tate.
'As well as Pennant, they have top players like Sol Campbell, Peter Crouch and Niko Kranjcar, and then there's the England No. 1 in goal.'
'They are established Premier League stars and facing them is going to be a real examination.'
