'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Orlandi Delighted To Score His First Swansea Goal

Andrea Orlandi was delighted to score his first Swansea City goal on Saturday in the 2-0 win against Reading.

The left winger showed a lot of emotion after his late goal and revealed why that was to the Evening Post:

'I just cried after the goal because I've suffered a lot since I first came here. I think I deserved it,'

'Only me and my girlfriend know how much I have suffered because I've been at home not playing and with injury problems.

'But now I'm playing, I feel really good and my team-mates have helped me a lot. I'm very grateful to them and I want to say thank you to them.

'It was my first goal for Swansea and it was an important goal for us.

'I needed a goal like that. To come on in a difficult game and score to make it 2-0 against a good team like Reading is unbelievable for me.'

Orlandi has been at Swansea City for 18 months now but he has made just 3 League starts in that time.

With a combination of struggling to adapt to the British game and a bad run of injuries, the left winger has found it difficult to nail a regular first team place.

When he has played he has impressed and the former Alaves player has the potential to be a big assett for us.

Hopefully his run of bad luck is a thing of the past and he can now concentrate on trying to gain a regular first team place, Orlandi added:

'It has been really frustrating. I have to say that maybe I wasn't mentally prepared for British football, but now I am,'

'The gaffer knew I was a good player, but Mark Gower and Tom Butler have been playing well.

'Now I've taken my chance in the cup and against Reading. I'm working hard and hopefully the results will come.'

'The loss at Reading was probably our worst performance of the season. I don't want to say vengeance, but we wanted to get our own back and we have demonstrated that maybe we are the better side,'

'We've played against all the teams now. We've played a lot better than Reading and Birmingham and if Jas (Jason Scotland) keeps scoring and we keep playing well I think we can get into the play-offs.'

It may just be my opinion, but i don't really want to get in to the play offs. If we do and we go up, even though Roberto has us playing fantastic football, we would struggle in the top flight. And on another note, if we get in to the play offs and lose i don't think it would do the team good to have that over their heads for the next season. Let's consolidate ourselves as a championship club and in a 2 seasons put a bit of money into the club once we get in to the top flight. Brilliant performance against Reading, fantastic fellas, well done!!!

we don't want to do a derby and we need to be prepared, it'll be better to stay in this league another season and then try and go up to the premiership. the millions we'll get for going up is a big attraction though!
