Martinez Wants to Avenge Humiliating Defeat
Swansea City supremo Roberto Martinez has targetted Saturday's game against Reading as a marker as to how far his side have come.
The Swans have impressed in their first season back in the second tier, drawing plaudits from pundits and opposition managers on a weekly basis.
However, the 4-0 hammering at the Madejski earlier in the season remains the lowest point of the campaign.
Martine told BBC Sport that he believes the return game at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday is an opportunity to see how far the Swans have progressed.
'That was a huge lesson because teams like Reading will punish you if they get a chance.'
'It was a harsh but vital lesson...you can't drop your intensity or lose focus or you get punished.'
'Reading will be our toughest test because overall they are the best side in the division.'
'They have Premier League players with huge experience and they didn't deserve to get relegated last season.'
'And their manager Steve Coppell, I believe, is someone special in that football club. '
'They have reacted well from getting relegated and are ready to bounce back. For us, the game will show how much we're learning in this division.'
'This will be a good exercise to see how far we have come as a team.'
