Dorus De Vries' future at Swansea City is in doubt as he is yet to sign a new contract with the club.
The Dutchman has enjoyed being our number one goalkeeper since he joined at the beginning of last season but he has told the Western Mail that he is unsure whether he'll be staying in South Wales or moving on.
There has been no mention of it, but it's possible that he may feel his number 1 spot could be in doubt next season as Roberto Martinez is keen to make Dimi Konstantopoulos' loan from Coventry permanent.
He said:
| 'There have been talks, but we honestly don't know yet if we will sign a new contract here or not at the moment. 'I've been thinking about it constantly, but we have had the period of Christmas in between and things like that. 'I need to see how things are running. Put all the pieces together. It is like a big puzzle and you need to see what fits together for you the best. 'Of course I love it at Swansea, it is a great club, it has been great for me. I want to stay here. Absolutely. Life is good here. 'Take a look at the squad, all the guys have really bonded together and that is a major issue for me. 'I've been working great with the goalkeeper coach too which is important for me. I have learnt a lot too which is a major issue. 'But you have to look in which direction the club is going. At what is going to happen in the transfer window things like that. 'I am 28 now and have a few years left ahead of me so you have to think about your career. 'I am a player from overseas as well so you find yourself also thinking about family and friends. They are very important to me. 'As I say you fit all these things together. It is a very important decision and I am still thinking about it.' 'But I have to say that my intention in the end is to be a Swansea City player. But you never know what might happen.' |
