Fans Vote Williams As Most Improved Player

Fans Vote Williams As Most Improved Player

Vital Swansea readers have voted defender Ashley Williams as our most improved player in 2008.

The Welsh international joined the Swans in May 2008 after a loan spell for a record paid £400,000 fee.

He has since proved to be a solid and consistent performer at the back, something we lacked last season when we had Dennis Lawrence in the side, you could say.

Williams picked up just over half the vote with 51%, with Pratley 24%, Joe Allen 8%, Rangel 4%, Painter 3%. The remaining 10% voted for other players.

'Most improved player' was a part of our unofficial awards in our 2008 Year Review.

Here were the others:

Player of the Year
1. Ferrie Bodde
2. Leon Britton
3. Angel Rangel

Goal of the Year
1. Ferrie Bodde v Preston (A)
2. Jason Scotland v Bristol Rovers (H)
3. Darren Pratley v Luton (A)

Performance of the Year
1. Swansea 3-1 Wolves
2. Doncaster 0-4 Swansea
3. Norwich 2-3 Swansea

Our new poll wants to know what result you think we'll get away at Burnley on Saturday. Swansea City have drawn the last 8 games and will be looking to end it with their first win since November 15th.
