Pintado Sidelined For 2 Weeks

Pintado Sidelined For 2 Weeks

Swansea City striker Gorka Pintado will be sidelined for 2 weeks as he flies out to Germany for an operation on his hernia.

The Spaniard will spend 3 days in Munich from January 11 to cure a problem that he has had ever since he joined in the Summer from Grenada CF.

His long-term problem has prevented Gorka from reaching his full potential at the Liberty Stadium, and as a result he has made just 7 League starts, scoring 2 goals.

Physio Richard Evans told the Evening Post:

'We have given Gorka the best chance to cure his symptoms,' he said. 'His recovery process is between 10 and 14 days and it is the best date we were given.

'There were three options for his operation. He could have the traditional method, which usually takes around six weeks, while there is one where you have mesh inserted into your abdomen, which takes two weeks.

'But we went for what we call the Munich method, which will see him out for two weeks and it is the best method for Gorka.

'The target is to get him back before the end of the month so the Southampton game is the likely game he will return for.'
