'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Scotland Can Be Unstoppable, says Martinez

Jason Scotland's heroics last night have led to Roberto Martinez suggesting that the Trinidad and Tobago international is unstoppable when on top of his game.

Scotland netted his sixth and seventh goals of an inconsistent season to earn the Swans an unlikely point against Barnsley.

Despite some lacklustre showing's in the Championship so far, Martinez believes Scotland is now ready to score goals on a regualr basis once again.

The Spaniard told the Evening Post:

'He has lacked consistency this season and I know he is frustrated about that, but that is because of his international trips with Trinidad & Tobago. Those demands affect his intensity. But when he is on top of his game, Jason is unstoppable.'

'You talk about big players in Swansea City's history and, for the type of player he is, Jason ticks every box.'

'He deserved a hat-trick for his performance in the last 35 minutes and this is a message to the rest of the Championship that he is ready to score goals.'

'It would be foolish to set Jason a target of goals this season,But what I would say is that he is a player who is capable of scoring in every game because of the strengths he has.'

'There are not many players like that, but Jason should look to score every time he goes out on the pitch.'

Hopefully Scotland will prove Martinez right by adding to his goal tally when Sheffield United visit the Liberty Stadium this Saturday.

scotland is one of the easiest players TO stop with the ball at his feet, shocking at times how slow he is.
