Bodde Could Be Out For Nine Months

Influential midfielder Ferrie Bodde could potentially be out for longer than first feared after injuring his cruciate ligament against Birmingham.

It was expected that Bodde would be out for six months, but the damage to his cartilage means that his rehabilitation may take anything up to nine months.

This would rule him out of the early part of next season, but the Swans are still hopeful he will line up on the opening day.

Swansea physio Richie Evans told the Evening Post:

'Ferrie's rehab is a going a bit slower than it normally would at the moment because we are protecting the cartilage.'

'The first stage of his rehab would normally involve a full range of movement and full weight bearing, but he is not able to do that because of two tears in the cartilage which need to heel.'

'It could be that it takes nine months for him to get back, but we believe that what he misses out on in the first part of his rehab he will quickly catch up on later on.'

'Basically, the situation is that Ferrie has no chance of playing again this season, but we believe he will be there or thereabouts next pre-season.'

The Swans have been boosted though by the return of Joe Allen and Andrea Oralndi following injury.
