Martinez's Post Match Views After Coventry Draw

Martinez's Post Match Views After Coventry Draw

Swansea City manager Roberto Martinez said last night's 1-1 draw felt like it was 2 points dropped, but he was pleased with his side's performance.

The Spaniard has still yet to experience 2 consecutive defeats as manager, and last night was a test for his side who were without star midfielders Ferrie Bodde and Leon Britton.

Both goals came from direct free-kicks, and the referee's decisions for both were controversial.

Martinez praised his side's character, he said:

'We've got huge character and that's why we won the league last season,''

'You don't get through difficult periods without big characters and big personalities who are always up for the challenge.

'That's what we have to show on the pitch. To those on the outside it's now pretty clear that Swansea City has a group of players who work extremely hard and want to win football games.

'We feel unfortunate not to have won because we created many opportunities and got our noses in front.

'In that respect it feels like two points dropped but there are many positives to take from the performance to allow us to keep working and keep developing in a new division.'
