'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Martinez Not Getting Carried Away By Soaring Swans

Swans supremo Roberto Martinez has reiterated that this season is about the club proving themselves at Championship level, and not making the play -offs.

Members of the Jack Army are finding it hard not to dream of making the play - offs after such an impressive start to the season, where only Reading have beaten the Swans comprehensively.

But the ever diplomatic Spaniard is keen to stress it is still early days in a long campaign.

Roberto told BBC Sport:

'At the moment we are in a great position - which is what the people say.'

'It's easy to perform over one or two months but you have to do it over 10.'

'But we need to carry on over the next three or four months and that's going to show if we are strong enough to be at this level or not and that's our biggest aim in the Championship.'

'We need to be aware that if we are not on top of our game, we won't be able to compete. '

'That's the challenge for the players and the football club as a whole.'

The next challenge for Swansea is to preserve their unbeaten home record against Birmingham City on Friday night.

Reading are the only other team in the league to remain unbeaten on home turf.
