Swansea City face Watford for the second time tonight in a matter of 3 days as they host the Hornets in the Carling Cup, as both clubs hope for an attractive quarter-final tie. Roberto Martinez's team will take confidence and encouragement from Sunday's 3-1 win, but despite the rather comfortable victory on the weekend, a repeat of that is definitely not a fore-gone conclusion.
Martinez said in his pre-match notes that Watford will have learned something about their opposition in preparation for match number 2 at the Liberty Stadium, though the Swans will have also done the same. The Hornets will be out looking for revenge and to reverse their defeat 2 days ago.
The Spaniard is likely to make some changes as he won't want his first team playing 3 games in 8 days. Tonight will be an excellent opportunities he says for his second teamers to be given a chance to impress:
'We have to make changes,'
'There are many players who have been working extremely hard and have been unfortunate not to play more minutes this season.
'Situations like this are ideal to give them a chance to express themselves.
'We have to look at how players finished the game on Sunday. Some will be ready, some will not, but this is where your squad gets tested.'
Arsenal and Manchester United are two of the teams in Carling Cup action tonight while other top flight teams such as Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham are also in the competition. A quarter-final tie against one of those big teams will definitely be on the minds of the players tonight as well as the fans who would all love to see us face a big Premiership club.
