Martinez's Views Ahead Of Watford Cup Clash

Swansea City manager Roberto Martinez says playing Watford a second time in 3 days will be 'quite bizarre'.

Goals from Ferrie Bodde, Jason Scotland and Guillem Bauza gave us a comfortable 3-1 win against the Hornets on Sunday afternoon. We host them again on Tuesday night as both teams hope to clinch a place in the Carling Cup quarter-final.

Martinez is likely to ring the changes as he has done in the previous rounds, and this is likely to give the fringe players another chance to impress the Spaniard.

Guillem Bauza, Gorka Pintado, Shaun MacDonald and new loan signing Stephen O'Halloran will be eyeing a starting place.

Martinez said he is expecting an exciting encounter:

'To play the same team twice at the same venue within the space of three days is quite bizarre,''

'But that's the prize of being successful in the cup.

'Now there is an even bigger prize available with a place in the quarter-finals for the first time in the club's history.

'I think both clubs will have learnt a bit about each other from Sunday's encounter. But all games are different, even if they are only three days apart, and cup ties tend to be more open and exciting.'

'Whatever team goes out there they will be expected to win the game,'

'Some of the players who played on Sunday will be ready for another game so soon, others won't. That's where the squad comes into it - and they will be ready.

'Many players in the squad have been working extremely hard without getting many minutes on the pitch. Perhaps a few will get their chance to show how good they are.

'If they show the same energy and determination as Sunday, I'll be happy.'

we need quality in midfield especially, allen and OTJ didn't quite hack it against Hull City.
